Sunner Kolsch is such a great grainy beer, at 5% ABV it is very sessionable. This is my go to beer for sitting on a hot summer patio. I took this photo at Republic in Minneapolis, MN.
Orange peel, coriander, cardamom, & candied ginger, lots of malt and a good dose of hops to balance it all out.
Over the last hundred or so years, the brewing industry in the United States has changed dramatically. From the saloon era through consolidation to today’s flourishing craft beer culture, it’s been quite a ride. Take a look at how the small brewer is making quite a comeback after nearly a half century of decline.
It’s a great time for beer!

This is a cool video from Dogfish Head where they make a beer using grapes infected with Noble Rot (Botrytis cinerea) to produce a must that is added at the end of the boil producing a fruit beer that is nearly 50% wine.

Today was a Fulton Beer day. We started out with a Presentation on going from home brewing in the grage to operating a full scale craft brewery, by Ryan Petz & Brian Hoffman of Fulton Brewery and lead by a great moderator from Northern Brewer who’s name I unfortunately did not get. The presentation was very interesting and quite educational, it was great to be able to ask them some questions on the details of getting started. Both Ryan and Brian are great to talk to and very approachable.
Since today was the day Fulton was selling growlers at the brewery, afterwords we headed over to the brewery for tastings of Lonely Blond, Sweet Child of Vine, & The Worthy Adversary. We also got the tour from Brian, and a good beer chat with Ryan. Ended up leaving the brewery with a nice growler full of The Worth Adversary russian imperial stout.
Over all quite a nice day with the guys from Fulton.
